The HP3000 is a dual-channel low-side gate driver under the HySwitch product family of Hynetek, with two independent gate-level driving capabilities, providing up to 5A peak source current and 5A peak sink current. It is widely used in motor control and switching power systems, such as communication power supplies, server power supplies, PC power supplies, brick module power supplies, inverters, EV DC charging pile charging modules, automotive PTCs, GaN, and other emerging wide-bandgap power device applications.
Figure 3: Typical Application Circuit Diagram for HP3000
In switching power supply systems, gate drivers are required to effectively combine level shifting and buffer driving functions. The use of gate driver devices between the PWM output of the controller and the gate of the power semiconductor device enables fast switching of the power device as well as reduced switching power loss, improving system integration and reliability. In emerging wide bandgap power device technologies such as GaN, very high switching frequency operation places special demands on gate driver products, such as operation at low VDD voltages (5V or less), tight delay matching, and compact, low parasitic inductance packages with good heat dissipation. the HP3000 meets the stringent requirements for gate driver functionality and performance in the scenarios described above. With a 12 VDD supply, the HP3000 is capable of delivering 5 A peak source current and 5 A peak sink current, effectively minimizing the Miller effect during MOSFET switching transitions.
The HP3000 also boasts industry-leading voltage tolerance, with 35 V for the VDD supply pins and -12 V for the input pins to withstand negative voltages, and a high level of robustness that enables it to adapt to harsh system environments.
