Hynetek PD sink controller aids in compliance with IEC 62680 new regulations

On December 7, 2022, the European Union published Directive (EU) 2022/2380, which strengthens the regulations on universal chargers and is scheduled to be mandatory in all EU countries from December 28, 2024 onwards. This revision is mainly for new production of cell phones, tablets, cameras, headphones, game consoles, speakers, e-books, keyboards, mice, navigators, headphones and laptops and other 13 types of electronic products, and laptops from April 28, 2026 onwards mandatory implementation. According to the new directive, the above 13 types of equipment must be equipped with a USB Type-C charging port that complies with the “EN/IEC 62680-1-3:2021 Part 1-3” standard and use a charging cable that complies with the same standard for charging; which supports fast charging of the device should meet The devices supporting fast charging should meet the power supply requirements of “EN/IEC 62680-1-2:2021 Part 1-2” standard, i.e., they should fully support USB Power Deliver (USB PD).

This initiative means that IEC 62680-compliant charging solutions must be adopted for relevant devices within the EU. HUSB238

The HUSB238 is a highly integrated USB Power Delivery (PD) controller as sink role for up to 100W power rating. The HUSB238 is compatible with PD3.0 and Type-C V1.4, and it can also support Apple Divider 3, BC1.2 SDP, CDP and DCP while the source is attached. The HUSB238 can be used in electronic devices that have legacy barrel connectors or USB micro-B connectors for power such as IoT (Internet of Things) devices, wireless charger, drones, smart speakers, power tools, and other rechargeable devices.The HUSB238 is available in 3mm x 3mm DFN-10L package option.

Provide highly reliable PD DRP Controller products

The USB PD DRP Controller launched by Hynetek includes a PD PHY chip dedicated to TCPC (Type-C Port Controller) and a full-featured PD DRP chip. The PD PHY chip can support PD3.0 extended commands and PPS commands, and has multiple advantages such as high withstand voltage, low power consumption, and support for different I 2C addresses.

HUSB311C

The HUSB311C is a USB Type-C PD controller that complies with the latest USB Type-C and PD3.1 standards. It implements the USB Type-C port power control for VCONN, USB Type-C CC control and sensing and USB PD Message delivery. HUSB311C has programmable Rp and Rd settings for each CC line. It does the USB type-C detection including attach and orientation. HUSB311C integrates a complete BMC encoding including a receiver and transmitter. With this physical layer of the USB BMC power delivery protocol, HUSB311C is able to handle the PD protocol and support any power up to 100W and perform role swap as needed. The BMC PD block enables full support for alternative interfaces of the Type-C specification. HUSB311C uses I2C to communicate with the TCPM via employing an INT signal for requesting attention.

HUSB239

The HUSB239 is a highly integrated stand-alone USB Type-C® and Power Delivery (PD) controller. The HUSB239 integrates the CC logic, USB PD protocol and the legacy protocols. The HUSB239 is freely to be configured by user as a Sink or DRP. Additionally, the debug accessories and audio accessories are both supported to be recognized.The HUSB239 can run in two modes I2C mode and GPIO mode. In I2C mode, an I2C master can access the HUSB239 to configure settings, read back status and perform advanced functions such as PR Swap, DR Swap, VDM messages. The HUSB239 supports PPS, SPR AVS, maximum 48 V / 5 A EPR PDO and EPR AVS in I2C mode.While in GPIO mode, the configuration is achieved via the setting pins. The HUSB239 can be configured to support maximum 28 V / 3.25 A PDO via VSET and ISET pins, only two resistors are used to set the voltage and current. And when HUSB239 acts as a source, the Rp can be configured via SRC_ISET pin. The ultra-low operation current of the HUSB239 helps the system to reduce the total power dissipation and suitable for a battery application. The HUSB239 is available in QFN 3 mm x 3 mm-16L package.

HUSB251

HUSB251 is designed for a USB Type-C DRP product. It can support up to multiple PDOs with programmable voltage and current for different applications, such as PPS PDOs, EPR PDOs. All of PDOs are fully compliant with USB PD 3.1 Specification Rev.1.8 Besides, HUSB251 implements DPDM charging protocols for source. Both D+ and D- pins can be configured to support QC2.0, QC3.0, AFC, FCP, UFCS and divider 3 mode which provide excellent compatibility for the legacy devices. It integrates an GATE driver to enable between VBUS and VIN to protect the devices connected with Type-C connector. The high voltage tolerance and protections at CC1, CC2, D+ and D- pins provides more reliability for the system.

HUSB268H


The HUSB268H is an advanced USB Type-C PD controller that complies with USB Type-C Release 2.2 and USB PD3.1 V1.6, which helps customers to pass the IEC 62680 standard testing.The HUSB268H has a built-in 32-bit MCU with 128kB x 2 flash memory, which provides powerful processing and storage capabilities to ensure its compatibility with various charging devices. In addition, the HUSB268H supports multiple legacy charging protocols including Divider 3, USB BC1.2, UFCS, QC2/3/3+/4/5, AFC, FCP/SCP, etc. to meet the needs of different devices. On top of multiple charging protocol support, HUSB268H also supports DP Alternate Mode and integrates SBU Switch, USB2.0 Switch and USB Billboard Module for video and data transmission.
