Under the requirement of miniaturization and high integration, Hynetek PD Sink controller has been technically upgraded to introduce the latest generation of cost-effective and simplest PD Sink controller - HUSB237.
Figure 1: HUSB237 demo and package drawing
The HUSB237 is a highly integrated USB Power Delivery (PD) controller as sink role for up to 100W power rating. The HUSB237 integrates the CC logic, USB PD protocol and the legacy protocols, and it supports BC1.2 SDP, CDP and DCP, QC2.0. The HUSB237 can be used in electronic devices that have legacy barrel connectors or USB micro-B connectors for power such as IoT (Internet of Things) devices, wireless charger, drones, smart speakers, power tools, and other rechargeable devices. The HUSB237 is available in DFN2x2-6L or SOT23-5L package.
FEATURES
Standalone USB PD sink controller
Support USB PD sink, up to 20 V / 5 A
Dead battery support
Support QC2.0 12 V
4.5 V to 22 V operation range
25 V tolerance on VBUS, CC1, CC2 pins
External resistor or capacitor to set the target RDO voltage
Support SOP’, eMarker emulator for cable application with output current>3 A
Power consumption 1.15 mA@5 V
Package: DFN2x2-6L,SOT23-5L
±2 kV HBM ESD Rating for USB IO pins
The peripheral circuit design of the HUSB237 reaches the ultimate simplicity, with a highly integrated internal circuit architecture that reduces the complexity of the PCB layout. The most typical configuration requires only a 1μF decoupling capacitor placed near the chip's VBUS pin to filter out power supply noise and ensure the stability of the chip's operation. This minimalist design means faster time-to-market for engineers, while reducing the risk of design errors and enabling rapid iteration and optimization.

In terms of compatibility, the HUSB237 demonstrates its flexibility and foresight as a modern PD solution. It supports conventional USB Type-A To USB Type-C cable (including A2C dual rp cable application scenarios) as well as USB Type-C To USB Type-C cable. This feature enables products designed based on the HUSB237 to be used in a wide range of charging scenarios, enjoying a consistent and efficient charging experience for both traditional USB-A devices and the latest USB Type-C devices.
There are two main ways to request current for the target: connect the PD Sink HUSB237 to the PD Source HUSB350C, which is also a product of our company, and broadcasts: 5V3A 9V3A 12V2.5A 15V2A 20V1.5A (30W), VSET = 20nF (20V for the target), and the results of the two ways of requesting current for handshaking are as follows:
Figure 3: RDO Current is determined by ISET = 2A (Configurable), Negotiating 15V2A
Figure 4: Source 20V1.5A is Not Satisfied, Therefore Request 15V2A
Figure 5: RDO Current is Determined by Source Capability, Ignoring Current, Directly Negotiate Vset Max 20V1.5A
Figure 6: Source Negotiates Vset Max Based on SRC CAP, Therefore Requests 20V1.5A
